I know you’re a dreamer. Just the fact that you’re reading this let’s me know you’re a dreamer – and that is a beautiful thing. Dreamers make the world a better place. We hold desperately onto hope and feel everything deeply. More than anything we want to make those dreams reality.
I’ve ALWAYS been a dreamer. I’ve had stars in my eyes since childhood and aspirations that go far beyond most people’s wildest dreams.
It’s a truly wonderful thing being a dreamer. We have incredible imaginations, big ideas, even bigger goals, and we can see all the possibilities that life has to offer.
But, the ultimate goal is to go from being a dreamer to a DOER!
Here are five key ways to help you turn those wild dreams to reality.
1. It All Starts With Baby Steps
Your dreams can seem so unrealistic that it makes achieving them feel overwhelming and impossible. This is why it’s so important to break it down into tangible, actionable steps. Start big, but then get specific. Think about what you can do right now.
“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”
Make sure that you do something daily to work towards you dream – no matter how small it may seem. For example, if you want to be an events planner, write down what your goals are for the month ahead.
Then everyday work on something that will help you to achieve those goals, like reaching out to potential clients, putting together a social media strategy to advertise, and identifying exactly what it is that you have to offer clients.
The key is to break it down into a few EASY steps that you can do daily. This will bring your dream right to the forefront of things – enhancing the realization that it’s closer than you think.
2. Choose Who You Surround Yourself With Wisely
You want to surround yourself with people who support you and your dreams. Those who are unsupportive and negative will only bring you down. If you want to have greatness in your life, surround yourself with great people.
If you strive to be happy, empowered, fulfilled, honest, and confident, surround yourself with people who are the same.
“Choose wisely who you call your friends, because you become who you surround yourself with. You can’t soar like an eagle, hanging out with chickens.”
Choose your circle wisely. Be relentless with surrounding yourself with people who bring out the best in you. The direction you take in life depends on it.
3. Don’t Be Afraid of Failure
Do you know what prevents most people from achieving their dreams? The fear of failing! We all have epic failure in life, but the trick is to stop viewing these failures as an end all. If you don’t stop trying, you will succeed eventually – failure is an inevitable part of success.
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
Never let the fear of failure stop you from trying. Failure is a way of growing and it’s a good way to find out what does and doesn’t work for you. There is always room for improvement, and if you don’t fail first, you may never know where improvement is needed.
Also, success is that much sweeter when you’ve failed at it countless times before. When you eventually succeed, you will feel euphoric.
4. Envision Your Obstacles
Very closely connected to failure is the importance of envisioning your obstacles. Things most probably won’t go 100% according to plan and you need to consciously think about the things that could get in the way of you achieving your dreams.
Envisioning obstacles and coming to the realization that there’s a real possibility of overcoming them can be extremely motivating. It’s also good to have a plan in place so that when these obstacles do arise, you know what you’ve got to do to get around them.
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams”
Maybe no one believes in you. Maybe you have no money to get started. Or maybe you have too many responsibilities and not enough time. Or just maybe – these are all excuses. Thousands of people have overcome all of these obstacles. If you want it bad enough, you will find a way to make it happen.
5. Stop Comparing Yourself To Others
“Lastly, and most importantly, STOP comparing yourself to others. Everyone is on a different journey, and you will drive yourself crazy if you try to compare yourself to anyone else. Just because someone is moving faster than you right now, that doesn’t make your journey and success any less meaningful.
“Winners focus on winning, losers focus on winners”
You are running your own race and who you are running your race against DOES NOT matter. What matters most is that you keep a sharp mindset, focus on YOUR dream, and give the best that you’ve got.
In the end, the only thing you should compare yourself to is who you’ve been – and then use that to grow, change, and dream to become a better person.
So what are you waiting for? Go out and shine. Turn those wild dreams into your reality.

I want to end off with one of my favourite quotes
“There are dreamers and there are realists in this world. You’d think the dreamers would find the dreamers, and the realists would find the realists, but more often than not, the opposite is true.
See, the dreamers need the realists to keep them from soaring too close to the sun.
And the realists? Well, without the dreamers, they might not ever get off the ground.”
